Healthy Harvest

As much as I love finding new ways to cook gf, sometimes I just don't have the time or I just don't feel like cooking. Here's where Healthy Harvest in Meriden, CT comes in! Healthy Harvest is a natural food store that my boyfriend found for me (he's a keeper!) They sell pre-made sandwhiches, baked goods and appetizers! So far I have tried the coffee cake, roasted vegetables with artichoke dip and the eggplant sandwhich (which is amazing!) The bread that they use for their sandwiches is absolutley amazing! It's tastes so much like regualr bread which anyone with a gluten allergy can tell you is very difficult to find (but very exciting to find!) I asked the owner if they sold loaves of their bread and she told me they were trying to perfect it and wanted to sell it soon. I will be the first in line!

Healthy Harvest also sells some frozen gf items such a doughnuts, pizza, pizza dough, burritos as well as your basic gf items like baking items, crackers, breads and snacks. They also sell supplements and proteins. (I'm not 100% sure if those are gf, but I will find out and post an update for you!)

Be sure to check out Healthy Harvest for delicious ready to eat gf food and extremely friendly service!

The Supernatural Market and Deli

I hate trying to find stores that offer gluten free, so imagine how happy I was to find a store right down the street from me in Bristol, CT that has gf items! It's called The Supernatural Market and Deli. The whole store is not gf, but they do have a very decent selection. They sell items such as baking mixes, salad dressings, frozen waffles, bread and even frozen donuts! I went the other day and got a loaf a fiber bread and to my surprise it was delicious! Make sure to check out The Supernatural if you're ever in the Bristol, CT area.

Van's Gluten Free Waffles

As much as I love homemade gluten free waffles and pancakes, sometimes (which is most of the time) I don't have the time to make them. Thank goodness for Van's GF products! Just pop them in the toaster oven or toaster and voila! Both the panackes and waffles are delicious but I think the waffles are my favorite. Looking for a way to jazz up your breakfast? My mom's friend's 4 year old daughther saw me eating these with peanut butter and some blueberries on the side and suggested that I put the blueberries on the waffles and believe it or not it was very good! Hope you like these as much as I do!

Bob's Redmill

I love pizza, and when I found out I had to eat gluten free, I thought I was never going to be able to eat pizza again, and needless to say I was not happy. That was until I my boyfriend and dad discovered Bob's Red Mill. I was skeptical at first, but it was delicious! If no one told me, I would have thought it was real pizza dough. You can find Bob's Red Mill at stores like Whole Foods, but I usually buy it from Ocean State Job Lot because it costs less. Bob's Red Mill also makes bread, cookie and cake mixes and even gluten free flour (which I use to make pancakes! So yummy!) I've also tried the gluten free chocolate chip cookie mix and it tastes just like regular chocolate chip cookies! Go pick up some Bob's Red Mill and start baking!

Dee's One Smart Cookie

I'm sure that anyone with a gluten allergy will agree that there are many gf items that do not taste very good. In my opinion, giving up things like cookies, cupcakes and other sweet treats was one of the hardest parts of living gluten free, but thanks to a wonderful little bakery in Glastonbury, CT you can remain gluten free while enjoying yummy treats that actually taste good! She makes many of the same items that you would find in a regular bakery, except everything (and I do mean everything) is gluten AND dairy free! Everything is baked fresh every day and the food is out of this world. You can find things like bread, muffins, cupcakes, brownies, even pizza! My personal favorites are the chocolate cupcakes and biscotti. She even makes birthday cakes! Be sure to check out this wonderful little bakery so you can once again enjoy all the delicious items you thought you had to give up.
